We all recognize that social media is ultimately not healthy for our souls. The constant barrage of news, change of opinions, “new research”, and simply coveting other’s lives just leaves us feeling anxious, defeated, and worthless. At least this is how I felt for years until I finally deleted Instagram for good. But while I was active on it I started to notice a subtle narrative being portrayed: there is only one way to live life, especially as a Christian woman. Now, there are opinions on this from all sides but I’m going to focus on the life as a…

When I started having kids I turned to social media for all my advice, mostly unknowingly. I looked to social media as an emotional outlet on rough days and found solace in other mothers who were also struggling. And for a while I found myself agreeing with the sentiments about motherhood being so difficult, so burdensome, and so unfulfilling. Especially in the moments and time of loneliness, depression, overwhelm, and sleep-deprivation I too believed lies about motherhood that aren’t true. I thought that I would be sacrificing myself, be so lost in motherhood that I would be a nobody. Here…

Six years ago we were knee deep in college and two littles in a tiny apartment. I felt like I was drowning in sleepless nights, postpartum depression, homework, and Covid was just starting. Life felt really hard and dark during that time. Thankfully God gave me small steps to take to make it through. I was led to eat healthier, exercise more, and declutter. I had never heard of minimalism till then. Looking around the apartment it was no wonder I was drawn to it. There were toys all over the little living room, laundry piled high, a crowded kitchen/dining…

Last year my kids started listening to the Green Ember series by S.D. Smith and they loved it. They have listened to the audiobooks over and over. And just when I think they have moved on to something else they surprise me by listening all over again. So when S.D. Smith announced his Kickstarter for this new book and video game we were all in. Helmer in the Dragon Tomb is…

And while we would love to think it would come naturally, it does not. There are a lot of parenting books and advice and “experts” in the world claiming to have all the answers. There has been published advice for centuries and not all of it is good. So how do you find parenting books that have sound advice? You look for ones that teaching parenting that mirrors…

It kinda bothers me when people say you can find God in only church, the scriptures or other sacred places (depending on the religion). Because as a young mom with young kids I’m hardly there. I read my scriptures daily and I pray often. I make it to church but I only get so much out of it. And the temple, well when you live 40+ mins away and have a nursing baby, you don’t get to go much. Don’t worry, I have beat myself up over it. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of “I wish I was better,…

Two weeks ago we left our home in North Carolina and drove across the country to settle in our home state of Idaho. It was a 6 day endeavor (we did stop in Nauvoo, Illinois for a whole day) with four littles (7,5,2, and 1). I had put together little notebooks with crayons and stickers but then we were gifted a few more things that really helped keep us entertained on…
