Mistborn Trilogy Review

I will start by saying I really enjoyed this trilogy. Despite the gore and violence the story line is amazing and the ending couldn’t have gone any better.

While many of Brandon Sanderson’s books are family friendly I would not recommend this book for anyone under at least 16. This story is heavy on its descriptive blood, gore and violence. I believe it’s a YA novel anyway.

If you’ve read any of his other works the writing style of the book will not surprise you. Many suggest Mistborn as the first of Sanderson’s books to read and I disagree. Other of his works that are much better first reads are Warbreaker, Elantris, Tress and the Emerald Sea, and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter.

As far as the series, the first book is long and dragged out as it’s mostly world building. The second book is a lot more adventure packed since the world building is done and you find yourself thrown straight into the action. The third book is very similar in that little time had past as a reader you didn’t feel like you’ve missed out on much and are quickly thrown back into the action.

There are wonderful characters but only some go through character growth. Each person will have their own opinion on the characters (there’s one in particular who I do not like but others do). There is a romance story that is sweet and tender, no sex and shows the pains of learning to communicate through difficult trials.

Book one Mistborn: The Final Empire

Book two Mistborn: The Well of Ascension

Book three Mistborn: Hero of Ages

All three

The Secret History
